My first (almost) week with the Daily Hampshire Gazette

So, I have been in Massachusetts for about a week now, and I have been pretty busy! I have about 3 assignments a day on average I think. I have loved all of the assignments so far, and they have been interesting in their own ways. Some have been a little more challenging than others. For example, the Amherst high school baseball field has less-than-desirable lighting for sure, an obvious downside for sports. I drifted away from regular news shooting for awhile to focus on sports so the change of pace is nice to mix it up a little. I’m not going to post all of my selects, but just some of my favorites from the few days I’ve worked there. And a disclaimer just for good measure…

These assignments include: Amherst baseball tournament game, decontamination training with the fire department, South Hadley graduation, and rescue team training

…Another bus ride, another game…

So this game was our second in a row on the road, traveling from Hamilton, Ohio to stay in Dayton and going up to Toledo. It was a long day, but the stadium was nicer this time. The lighting still posed a slight problem but not quite as bad as the night before. Looking back at the photos from the night before, it was clear that it was the first game. I am hoping as the team gets more acquainted with each other, and I get back into the swing of shooting baseball, it will all come together. Here’s the shots from the game versus the Lake Erie Monarchs.

The season (and my internship) begin…

Today was the day the team and I have all been working toward, the first game. The game went pretty smoothly despite the long bus ride from Athens to Hamilton with more traveling to come the next day to Toledo. The Copperheads won the game which provided me with some great shots of the coach and players. Here are a few of my favorites from my (long) day.
